Design Festival at Brako Bar

By Guillaume Monneau:

This Sunday 8th of June took place, from 4 PM to 8 PM, in Ramos Mejía at the Brako bar, an exposition of art objects.

Behind its red front, this bar makes us discover a lot of stands in a quiet mood, animated by a DJ. In fact, the entrance lets us see to the left an exposition of paintings and other artefacts. Until there, nothing extraordinary for an art exposition. Nevertheless, once you begin to move forward the bottom, other objects appeals the attention and can even surprise a European. Yes, a very rare thing for someone that isn’t familiarized with the Argentine customs, a design festival isn’t just a presentation of paintings in an informal context, but a mini market where, by a side, there are clothes, jewels and feminine lingerie and, by another side, you can find modern paintings.

So with a mix of music going from electro to jazz passing by some rock classics, we could discover quality handmade pieces as these wooden boxes with an admirable concern for the last touch.

After having walked around the bar, talked to some expositors, and even after having bought an object, the CICLO’s Foundation members, French and Argentinian, met over a drink to talk about our respective impressions. Effectively it’s very interesting for a same event to see how everyone has felt it, which were the reactions…

According to my opinion, any kind of art is the proper expression of a culture, of a history but it remains and would remain an essential mean of intercultural communication. It’s, in any case, what we will remember as a lesson of this experience that we have lived during this afternoon in the Brako bar.
