My route to Ramos Mejía's schools

By Julie Pacotte

“¡Hola Buen Día! I come from the Foundation Ciclo where we are organizing an event of art for the first two weekends of July ….” On this way begins my speech in front of the directors or secretaries of Ramos Mejía's schools. In general the doorman receives me first (or the portera) and I ask him if I can communicate with the direction or the secretary. After speaking only across a door or a window, I can finally enter into the school and observe what Ramos Mejía's schools look like: I would say that the majority are spacious enough, but they are all different; some are more decorated than the others (For example by drawings of the pupils) or seem to be "more "serious", more religious. I was very well received in the great majority of these schools, the directors - and principals - seemed to be very interested in the event, and were going to comment on it to the teachers of art of his/her school.

I seize the opportunity to comment that I was surprised or that it was different from a French school. It seems to me that the major difference is in the day’s organization. In effect, in France all the pupils (or almost all) go to the school in the morning AND in the afternoon, the concept of ongoing (morning or afternoon) does not exist. Continuing on the topic, the French pupils, in general, do not go to the school on Wednesday but they have to go on Saturday morning, which tends to annoy their parents, jaja.
They are also very vagabonds compared with their Argentinean companions: they have approximately 17 weeks of vacations during the year!

To end, for what I was surprised, I am only going to mention that on having entered two schools they asked for my ID card: did i had face of delinquant? Jaja….
